In the 1950's a blend of music was being formed. Forged from country influences and rhythm and blues basics, came this new sound which was affectionately coined "ROCK-A-BILLY". Through the years only a few bands like the Stray Cats, Robert Gordon, Dave Edmonds, The Blasters, and the Rockats, to name a few, were able to bring their neo-blend of ROCK-A-BILLY and ROCK-N-ROLL songs throughout their careers. Although many styles of music seem to come and go, ROCK-A-BILLY has always maintained its appeal though it has had a tough time earning its place in the major label American Market .

Three musicians also banded together as THE RAZORBACKS with one common goal in mind. To make sure this good ol' Rock-N-Roll Music gets into the mainstream and the people's ears. Several years ago The Razorbacks signed a deal with Fury Records of the U.K. Distribution is handled by Caroline LTD. a division of Virgin Records, which has made world wide availability possible. The vast possibilities in the European market for this style of music has been overwhelming for many years. Thus making the decision to sign with a European label, which primarily deals with ROCK-A-BILLY an easy one. They also have a deal with National Panasonic/Teichiku Records in Japan which released the entire catalog. THE RAZORBACKS, with this enormous amount of recorded material, should soon be able to turn themselves into a household name.

THE RAZORBACKS are lead by Kenny Duda, who formed the band in 1983. Kenny has been at the guitar since grade school. This shows in his versatile ability to go back and forth in styles from the "twanging" of Duane Eddy to the raw drive of Brian Setzer. Kenny is more comfortable on the stage performing than most people are in their own living rooms!

The band started out as a pub or small club band doing primarily covers and remakes of old ROCK-A-BILLY tunes. It quickly evolved and Kenny started to concentrate on original songs. Kenny attributes their incredible long repertoire to this since in the early days the band relied on so many cover songs. The band would simetimes have to play 4 or 5 hours at a club.

Rob "Bobcat" Bundy slaps the double bass. He has been with them for over 12 years. Rob became a permanent member right after "Crusin Down" LP came out. Rob, being the youngest member came in with much less live experience. He was playing in a few small local bands when they found him. THE RAZORBACKS were already touring extensively with several world trips under their belts to date. The pressure to perform, and fit in with the seasoned "RAZORBACKS" would not be an easy job, but Bobcat has now become one of the most recognized slap bass players in the business.

Mark Swartley joined the band 6 years ago, after seeing THE RAZORBACKS perform throughout the Philadelphia area. Mark had hailed from Philadelphia doing some drum session, studio, and teaching work. He had the itch to get back on the road with some serious wild men. When the position opened Mark was there to fill the space he was destined to have. After all these years the three ring circus was now complete.

The Success of the band has put them on stage with many fine performers such as Carl Perkins, Bo Diddley, Fats Domino, Robert Gordon, and the Stray Cats on many occasions. They have even had many well known entertainers not commonly associated with ROCK-A-BILLY checking out their exhilarating performances such as the legendary Bruce Springsteen.

THE RAZORBACKS may possibly be one of the U.S.A's best kept secrets. We think you will agree once you have seen them perform. They have 4 full length CD's under their belts, and have been included on countless Rock-A-Billy compilations. The border on country, surf, and swing with a bit of blues. So where to we class them? Who do they sound like? We certainly know where their roots came from, but that's all. When the boy's were asked by "Now Dig This" Magazine, what kind of music they would like people to classify them in, they said "RAZORBACKS" music. I think that is best, because after you see and hear them you will know nothing else can possibly describe it!

When these three talented guys hit the stage and turn loose they will give you something you won't forget. They gain fans around the world with every show and leave them bopping in the aisles and begging for more!
